As the COVID-19 vaccination centre at Portsmouth’s St James’ Hospital opens and prepares to deliver over 1,000 inoculations a day, DQ Global’s own Danielle Howting will be on the front-line providing assistance.
Danielle heard of the opportunity to volunteer through her work with local charity, Hive Portsmouth. Hive Portsmouth works in partnership with hundreds of local voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to provide active help and support on a range of issues.
As part of her role, Danielle will be guiding people through the hospital and to their appointments, as well as directing traffic in the car park. This is all to ensure a smooth service and minimise queues and delays.
The opening of the vaccination centre was in development for six weeks, and efforts will be supported by Royal Navy personnel, Portsmouth’s street pastors and 333 other volunteers from Hive Portsmouth.
Danielle says: “I joined Hive Portsmouth as I share their passion for creating a more connected city. When the opportunity to help at the vaccination centre came up, I leapt at it. The past year has been so difficult for everyone and I’m delighted to get the opportunity to help the community get back on its feet.”
